Belarus’ price situation remains stable and under control, First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said at a meeting with the top officials of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART), the Ministry of Architecture and Construction, the State Committee for Standardization, regional executive committees, the Minsk City Executive Committee and representatives of major retail chains and importers,

The key topic of the meeting was consumer price dynamics following the abolition of price regulation, the situation on the market for socially important goods and analytical work by government bodies. The participants noted that the price situation remains stable and under control. There are no prerequisites for an increase in retail prices. The retail chains and importers were warned about the possible resumption of price regulation if signs of unjustified price increases or increased pressure from external factors emerge.
Regional and Minsk directorates of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, together with the trade and services departments of regional executive committees and the Minsk City Executive Committee, were instructed to analyze the price situation in the regions, identifying the causes and justification for any increases in retail prices.
The government bodies were tasked with stepping up proactive analysis to avert negative trends in the consumer market and prevent violations.
