STOLIN, 12 June (BelTA) – Representatives of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee and the Brest Oblast Executive Committee explained how the program on developing the Pripyat Polesie areas in 2025-2030 is being implemented during an offsite session of the expert advisory board under the Presidium of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The topic of the expert advisory board session was “Ensuring balanced development of territories through the implementation of measures stipulated by the program on developing the Pripyat Polesie areas in 2025-2030”. Deputy Chairwoman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Ksenia Pantyukhova pointed out that five districts of the region are classified as Pripyat Polesie: Yelsk District, Zhitkovichi District, Kalinkovichi District, Lelchitsy District, and Petrikov District. They occupy a total of 32% of the territory of Gomel Oblast and are home to about 145,000 people.

In 2025 Gomel Oblast implemented 117 measures of the program, including 39 ones in the social sector, and 17 ones in the housing and utility sector and power engineering. Among bright examples Ksenia Pantyukhova mentioned the establishment of garment manufacturing in Zhitkovichi District and the launch of a mixing and dosing line for milk powder-based mixtures in Kalinkovichi District. This is exactly where highly popular dry ice cream is produced now. In Lelchitsy District a private company has organized the manufacturing of woodworking industry goods. “In the tourism sector in Petrikov District, a spa service zone opened in a hotel in the Pripyatsky National Park. A number of other projects have been implemented in other fields as well. Land reclamation work was also carried out in each of the five Pripyat Polesie districts on an area of over 6,000 hectares. Among other things more than 7km of water supply networks and 4km of sanitation networks with over-the-limit service life were replaced. In power engineering around 105km of electric power distribution networks were reconstructed,” the deputy head of the oblast administration emphasized.

She also drew attention to the fact that 139 measures of the program are being implemented in 2026, including 44 ones in the social sector, 11 ones in agriculture, 15 ones in land reclamation, 13 ones in industry, 18 ones in transport, 10 ones in tourism, 16 ones in the housing and utility sector and power engineering, 7 ones in trade and services, and 5 ones in forestry.

In Brest Oblast four districts belong to Pripyat Polesie: Gantsevichi District, Luninets District, Stolin District, and Pinsk District. First Deputy Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Dmitry Gorodetsky stressed that annual plans for land reclamation, upgrading the bus, machine and tractor fleet, road repairs, replacing water supply networks, and constructing fiber-optic lines are being fulfilled in full.
