One of the most important objectives of state programs is to ensure a reliable supply of raw materials for existing and new production facilities. Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar made the statement at a session of the permanent interagency commission on state programs, the press service of the Economy Ministry told BelTA.
Representatives of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry, the Architecture and Construction Ministry, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and the Brest Oblast Executive Committee took part in the commission’s session. The event focused on proposals on adjusting the state programs on subsurface resources and on science for the economy and society for 2026-2030.
Yuri Chebotar emphasized that when making changes to state programs, the responsible customers need to clearly understand how to use the country’s mineral resource potential as effectively as possible for the benefit of the national economy. To make rational use of this reserve, it is necessary to focus on three areas.
First and foremost, in his opinion, it is important to consistently move away from importing raw materials, of which Belarus has sufficient reserves. Those are primarily resources in high demand in the civil engineering sector. The second area involves modernizing existing facilities for the extraction and primary processing of raw materials as well as creating new ones based on newly discovered deposits. At the same time, Yuri Chebotar emphasized, it is necessary to focus on environmentally safe technologies: the careful development of mineral resources is an integral part of balanced economic development.
The third area involves extending existing value chains and creating new ones. “Our goal is to ensure an end-to-end connection between all stages of the production cycle: from extraction to the release of the finished product,” noted the economy minister.
