Relief of the Brest region is flat with absolute heights from 140 up to 200 meters. The maximum point - 267 meters is located on southern slopes of Novogrudok height. The lowest place - 121 meters - is located in a valley of the river Zapadnyj Bug on the border to Poland. The territory of the region has three types of a relief: slightly - wavy of water-glacial plains, flat and poor wavy of ancient alluvial plains and flood-lands. Widely are distributed ashes forms of a relief (dunes, hills, ridges). In the north - hillocks and valleys are cut up by small rivers, covered with rich woods. Draw to itself plains of the middle and southern parts decorated in many places with mirrors of lakes.

In the region are dominating turfy-podsolic automorphic, turfy-podsolic waterlogged, turfy and turfy-carbonate, turfy-marsh lowland and alluvial - meadow grounds (only 12 types). On grain-size classification prevail sandy (40,6 % from the area of farmland) and sandy (36,2 %) grounds.

Meadows occupy about 600 thousand he, from them lowland - more than 60 % from the general area. Flood-lands - 25 %, upland - about 10 %.

With respect to geological part the territory of the region is located within the limits of the East Europe platform. Here various minerals are revealed. Largest of them are granite, clay, swept, brown coal and peat.

On territory of the region are most distributed lowland bogs. The small areas occupy transitive and riding bogs. Besides grassy (open) bogs are widely distributed wood (closed) bogs, weed-covered with a birch, an alder and a willow.

Long since the imagination of people occupied bogs with various evil spirits: wood-goblins, and frights. Bogs were considered as a rotten and useless place for a long time. Trying to get rid of this so-called "evil", the man started "to conquer" bogs. The first project of bog reclamation of Polesskij lowland concern to the period 1873-1875.

The basic works of Polesje transformation have been started in 1950-1960. First drying works have been directed on disposal of water. By present time in Belarusian Polesje are drained 1,5 million hectares of the boggy grounds and bogs. The drained grounds make about 25 % present of agricultural grounds.

On the territory of district there is the largest deposit of granite which is used for manufacture of building macadam (Mikashevichi). In the Stolin are located district unique loam deposits, allowing make brick with a parameter of frost resistance more than 100 cycles.

The largest swept deposit in Belarus is "Khostislavskoje", located in Malorita district, has about 500 million tons of stocks.
