From June 1941 till July 1944 Brest was occupied by the army of Nazi Germany. The Nazi leadership realized a new administrative division of the territory. The southern parts of the region were included in the structure of Reich commissariat"Ukraine", the north-eastern parts were included in the structure of Reich commissariat"Ostland", the north- western parts (Kamenec and Pruzany) – directly in the structure of Reich (Eastern Prussia).
