As for October 1, 2008 the demand for workers claimed by the employers counted 7.7 thousand which is 27.6% more than for the analogous period of 2007. Labour market, as before, caters for working professions that constitute 83.1% of total amount of vacancies claimed. At the average, 1 unemployed (in 2007 1.4) conventionally applied for 1 vacancy.
The level of registered unemployment as for October 1, 2008 counted 1.2% with the number of unemployed 7.4 thousand people.
In January-September 2008 due to all financial recourses 19.4 thousand working places have been created in the region, including 4.7 thousand in small towns.
From the Fund of social defense of the population (further – the Fund) 34 enterprises received budget loan for creation of 456 new working places. Actually, due to this resource 548 working places were introduced.
In the agencies for labour, employment and social defense (further – the agencies for labour) addressed for the assistance in job placement 40.3 thousand people, 26.3 of them are admitted to be unemployed.
For this period 24.8 thousand people were placed for a job, including 17.1 thousand unemployed. Out of this number 3.9 thousand are rural residents, 4.1 thousand live in small towns, 2.3 thousand have extra employment guarantees, 141 people – within the framework of "Youth internship".
509 unemployed became the entrepreneurs, who received free financial aid from the Fund.
112 unemployed disabled were sent for the work rehabilitation with the partial compensation for the expenses on wages.
4 employers were compensated for the expenses on acquiring of special equipment for adjustment of working places and job-placement for 13 disabled.
2.4 thousand unemployed were sent for vocational training, retraining and advanced training, and 88.4% of them acquired working professions.
The Educational Establishment "Brest Experimental Training Centre for Unemployed" has accepted 509 people, 491 of who are unemployed.
5.5 thousand people were placed for temporary working places created with the help of the Fund. The youth worked within the frames of projects of helping the elderly, area improvement, sewing towels and gowns for orphanages and pre-school establishments, making toys, construction works.
With the support of the agencies for labour 21 families moved to the new places of work and residence.
14.6 thousand people received unemployment allowance (4.0 thousand rural residents), 1.4 thousand people have received financial aid.
15.1 thousand people, or 37.4 % of all who addressed the agencies for labour received consultations.
12.0 thousand people were involved in various activities in the sphere of professional training. This number includes the school graduates, their parents and educational staff.
17 vacancy fairs and "The day of machine-building enterprises" were held. More than 1.5 thousand people took part in the events.
For the aim of informing population and employers on the matters of job placement 35 radio and TV broadcasts were organized, 407 publications came out.
