Lukashenko declares strong commitment to faster integration in services sector in CIS, EAEU

30.09.2025 17:09
MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) – Belarus is firmly committed to accelerating integration in the services sector in the CIS and the EAEU, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting with heads of government delegations participating in the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the CIS Heads of Government Council in Minsk on 30 September, BelTA has learned.

A key issue raised by the Belarusian president at the meeting was the development of trade in services: “I strongly believe that we must demonstrate political will and declare our strong commitment to accelerating integration in the services sector while boosting investment cooperation.”

The president noted that since the launch of the EAEU and the CIS (over 10 years and nearly 35 years respectively), these associations have successfully established a solid internal market for goods despite some exceptions and restrictions. Yet, progress on services trade has stalled at the level of basic agreements; this, despite services generating more than half of GDP for both associations.
